Processing (Mining) Manager – Gold Mining – Open Pit Operation

The role is offered to all Zimbabweans across the globe or currently locally based. 

Our client is well established and part of an international group with various operations across Zimbabwe. 

The position will work to meet the current oxide production and grow to the Sulphide Project in the next two to three years. 

This will involve a transition from processing oxide ore, transitional ore (oxide/sulphide) then sulphide ore. 

Under general supervision this position will be responsible for: 

  • Managing processing open pit (currently oxide ore) through leaching.
  • Playing a key role in assisting in the implementation of the Sulphide Project with a Biox plant.
  • Supervise processing related projects that relate to the development of the Sulphide project.
  • Generic management duties (staff recruitment, training, administration, and budgeting and cost management)
  • Managing on site mining contractors, negotiating with suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Implementing SHEQ systems and ensure occupational health and safety guidelines are followed, including emergency response plans. 

Minimum Qualifications and capabilities 

  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy engineering
  • Not less than 10 years relevant experience in sound processing and production environment preferably with Biox experience
  • Demonstrated ability to migrate from a project set up to production.
  • Working knowledge of SHEQ systems
  • Sound understanding of mining regulations.
  • A master’s degree in metallurgical engineering and or Project management or Mining Operation or MBA will be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Work effectively in a team
