Our client operates in the explosives and accessories business providing blasting solutions (total package) to various clients in the mining and construction industry. The business is well established and is on an expansion drive to capture new clients through relationship building.

Job Profile

The Technical Services Manager will be responsible for ensuring that there is product technical support availed to the different customers/mines through the management, training, and coordination of the technical services blasting support process in the most cost-efficient and effective ways.

The various duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality management of the work process and people involved.
  • Preparing blast designs and blast evaluations
  • Presiding over the charging process together with the technical support team.
  • Daily, Weekly, and Monthly reporting.
  • Training customer and internal technical team on product and equipment knowledge.
  • Researching and keeping the business current on market developments i.e., product/industry development, customer requirements, and competitor activities.
  • Handling customer inquiries, queries, and complaints (customer relationship management)
  • Managing a team of technicians and operators.
  • Managing a fleet of Mobile Manufacturing Units and liaising with outsourced maintenance service providers. 

Person Profile 

  • A Degree in Mining Engineering or a similar technical discipline from a recognized institute is preferred.
  • Full Blasting Licence.
  • An additional management/business qualification would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a technical/mining environment, 3 of which must be a at managerial level.
  • Experience in mining and/or explosives-related environments would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent skills in communication, analytical/attention to detail, well-structured, and organized
  • Familiar and well versed in blasting engineering software, Microsoft Office (excel/word/outlook).
  • Prepared to work weekends/holidays as and when required.
  • Prepared to travel around the country to different sites. 

Location:                    

The job will be based in Harare but will be required to travel extensively throughout the country to different customer/mine sites. 

A relevant remuneration package is offered to attract the skill required.
