Our client in the Manufacturing and Mining Sector – Blue Chip Operation is urgently looking to fill the above position. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Production Forecasting– Interpret production forecast (Kiln Run Plan) and develop mine run plan.
  • Production Scheduling – Decompose the annual forecast into monthly, weekly, and daily production schedules. Formulate machine run time and shift labour component requirements to meet production targets. Liaise with engineering department to establish plant downtime schedule and factor into production schedules.
  • Production Control– Ensure that an effective and integrated management operating system (MOS) is in place at all levels of the department. Tracking Key Performance Indicators: Target / Actual / Variance as well as action planning to address variances. Conduct regular audits on MOS to ensure: Operator Logs are accurately completed and used by first-line supervisors for Short Interval Control
  • End-of-shift reports are accurately and comprehensively completed, including Target / Actual / Variance as well as proper action planning during the shift. End of shift reports are collated and captured into a daily production report. Daily production results are captured into a production management report. Production data is being used for Visual Management in all areas in the mining operation.
  • Production Review– Ensure that production results are reviewed in departmental INVOCOM meetings. Provide input in interdepartmental INVOCOM meetings on mining results.
  • Proactively use mining production data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement. Use mining production data as input to GM’s monthly management report
  • Use mining production data as input to group reports and dashboards.
  • Process Optimisation– Provide guidance and input into process optimization root cause analysis and raw material & product trials. Ensure that trials conducted have no negative impact on production and or product quality. Liaise with relevant departments to ensure successful implementation of process changes. Provide input into efficiency and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Mining Equipment management– Ensure equipment purchased is in line with requirements.
  • Implement procedures for ongoing and systematic 1st line equipment surveillance and condition monitoring. Ensure proper scheduling of planned, unplanned maintenance, and ad hoc projects are in place and adhered to. Facilitate performance and failure investigations, perform root cause analysis, and identify and implement remedial actions.
  • Requisitioning Goods and services– Authorise purchase requisitions as per Authority Matrix
  • Authorise contract labour requests
  • Contract Labour Management – Authoriserequests for use of contract labour
  • Approve payments for contract labour.
  • Contractor Services Management– Evaluate contractor services prior to appointment. Approve and ensure adherence to SLAs. Ensure vendors adhere to safety and quality standards
  • Manage annual contract reviews and tendering process for contract vendors.
  • Stock management– Ensure raw material stock (clay, Limestone etc.) levels are within budgeted inventory levels. Ensure accurate stock takes are undertaken as per schedule. Conduct variance investigations and approve stock adjustments. Approve stock Levels and liaise with Admin manager.
  • Quality Management– Check and Sign-off Grade Plans. Ensure adherence to Grade Plans.
  • Governance– Implement protocols as per departmental Joint Audit Protocol. Ensure adherence to the Company Operating Best Practices. Ensure compliance with mining statutory licenses and permits
  • Risk Management– Promote and ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with the IMS system. Ensure investigation of incidents & accidents and corrective action is taken. 

Minimum Required Qualification: 

  • Mining Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Full Blasting Licence (FBL)
  • Mine Manager Certificate of Competency. 

Minimum Required Work Experience

 

  • 3-5 years in a Lime manufacturing process.
  • Opencast mining experience at the managerial level.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of earthmoving / plant operation.
