Our client is a leading Mining House, seeking a self-motivated person to fill the above position.

Purpose:

  • Financial planning, scenario planning, long-term & short-term financial or business modeling.
  • Cost control and management.
  • Providing commercial support to the business by interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers.
  • Preparation and analysis of financial information to allow the organization to make well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, profitability, and growth.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Scenario Planning

  • Financial modeling of various scenarios to support Management and Board in the development and implementation of key business strategies.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts for business planning and decision-making, including long-term planning.
  • Conduct risk assessment from the financial plans and advise on ways to minimize the risks.
  • Modelling of the results of different finance options in relation to the financing of the business.
  • Participate as required in any due diligence processes around securing of the business’s future.

 

Business Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze financial information for internal use.
  • Preparation of monthly management, costs, and operational efficiency reports.
  • Evaluate the company’s performance using key data, investigate anomalies and variances, and provide ad hoc reports as required by management.
  • Provide historical financial data and analysis as requested.
  • To provide high-quality financial information and advice to Head of Departments and in particular to support implementation and tracking of cost containment activities.
  • Provide management reporting for decision-making, including project appraisal, evaluation, and post-implementation analysis

 

Projects Accounting

  • Ensuring that all Project transactions have been recorded accurately and timeously.
  • Reconciliation of Projects spend Tracker with General Ledger.
  • In consultation with Project Managers/ Consultants review the adequacy of project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensuring all project expenditure has been allocated to the correct assets and account class.
  • Investigating abnormal cost variances vis -a -vis budget and taking appropriate action.
  • Manages, highlights, and communicates problem areas to management to avoid unnecessary expenditures.

 

Management Accounting & Internal Control Systems

  • To analyze the reporting requirements of the business and recommend appropriate formats.
  • Assist to identify and optimize the Group’s financial risks and provide ‘best in class systems to support the business in delivering its stakeholder objectives.
  • To support the development and implementation of new financial systems and processes.
  • To analyze processes and procedural requirements and recommend standard procedures and systems to be followed across the organization.

 

Integrated planning and performance management

  • To assist in the development and management of a planning and performance management framework that addresses organizational requirements.
  • To assist in the identification of effective Key Performance Indicators (KPI) or Parameters for costs centers, departments, and the Company

 

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality

  • Participates in the company, departmental and sectional SHEQ initiatives, implementing the set objectives to the required standard, according to the approved system in place
  • Directs and informs subordinates on safety issues by conducting monthly SHEQ meetings and other activities such as inspections and audits, carrying out corrective measures, and maintaining the program documentation in accordance with the approved standard
  • Enforces and monitors compliance with the Company’s quality standards by ensuring that all management accounting functions are undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the approved quality management system of the Mine.

 

Qualifications, Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Must be computer literate, Excel, MS Word
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Advanced excel spreadsheet skills
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting packages and payroll systems
  • Experience in financial modeling and costing
  • Experience in handling the requirements of internal and external stakeholders credibly within a changing environment
  • Experience in working within a project team and ensuring delivery targets are met on time and to budget
