The role reports to the CEO and is responsible for a team of personnel to assist with heading the Finance department.
You are expected to;
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
- Preparing the year-end financial reporting pack in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Preparation of the Finance Board pack and attending the Audit Committee meetings.
- Maintaining good relations with the Key finance stakeholders such a Banks, ZIMRA, Ministry of Mines and MMCZ.
- Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting
- Formulation and implementation of company budgets and financial plans.
- Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
- Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizational risks are minimized
- Advise the organization’s leadership on appropriate insurance coverage for the organization and the Board of Directors
- Negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate with CEO
- Supervising accounting staff and appraising their performance on a quarterly basis.
- Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
- Negotiate and manage the employee insurance and benefits plans
- Process and submit statutory and benefits remittances on time
- Perform relevant financial models to assist the executive management in the selection and implementation of suitable investment options for the company.
- Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the senior management and stakeholders.
- Maintain financial records for each project in a manner that facilitates management reports
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects
- Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments
- Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization (employment standards, occupation health and safety, Companies Act, Income Tax Act etc) and all regulations on professional certification to ensure that the organization is compliant
- Developing financial management mechanisms that would minimise financial risk, foreign currency exchange risks and interest rate risks.
- Ensuring proper internal controls are implemented and operating effectively.
- Perform tax planning and research to ensure compliance and timely payments to ZIMRA.
