Engineering Manager – (Technical Advisor) – Tobacco Processing Plant

This senior management role plays an important and significant part in the success of our client’s tobacco processing operation.

It should be noted while it leads a team of Engineers with a Contract Artisan Partner this role requires vast ability in executing – planning and maintaining efficient operational structures reporting to the Factory Director.

 

We seek a person with a strong and mature back ground in engineering abilities in Mechanical – Electrical and Civil works – however a strong administrative capability is most important.

This role requires a person 40 years plus – either gender who has worked hands on – in their career and today is a good leader with exceptional people management skills – in planning and executing the engineering administration and operation for the factory.  

 

Please note your CV should contain listed experience in the following areas of skill;

 

  • Prepares, implements and ensures adherence to the weekly Engineering plan in line with the AOP for the Factory
  • Meets with the Production Manager, Factory Director and agrees the parameters for the Engineering plan regarding the improvements/modifications required on the line;
  • Develops the Factory off season Engineering maintenance plan which includes allocation of resources and labour, Capital Expenditure and a time table to meet the starting date confirmed by the Factory Director;
  • Submits the Factory off season Engineering maintenance plan to the Factory Director for inclusion in Annual Operating Plan;
  • Prepares and monitors the financial budget and generates quarterly variance reports in line with the Factory AOP
  • Reviews the current budget against targets and prepares the Engineering budget, resources and tasks, and discusses this with Factory Director during November and December of each year;
  • Reviews the budget on a monthly basis and generates quarterly variance report for submission to the Factory Director;
  • Approves Engineering internal requisitions and direct purchases and, with the Procurement Manager, inspects supplied equipment to ensure the correct standard;
  • Manages on season engineering operations and processes to maintain the Plant in compliance with Engineering Operations standards
  • Develops the necessary plan/s to ensure that the Department meets its agreed goals and objectives, meets departmental staff on a monthly basis, identifies and agrees key result areas, key objectives/tasks and action plans;
  • Communicates with Factory staff to discuss Factory Engineering action plan, agree targets, logistics and timing and SAP requirements;
  • Communicates weekly, with Maintenance Coordinators and ensures that SAP procedures are being adhered to with regards to buildings and grounds maintenance requirements;
  • Communicates with, and monitors the internal and external contactors to ensure that the maintenance and new-works are carried out in compliance with their contracts;
  • Addresses any performance deficiencies with relevant contractors and ensures appropriate action is taken;
  • Sets, in conjunction with the Stock Controller the stores minimum and maximum engineering stocks;

 

Requisite Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in Engineering
  • 6-8 years’ experience in Engineering Plant Management and Maintenance and Administrative
  • Knowledge in Engineering mechanical, civil and electrical, Engineering Maintenance, Financial Budgeting and Control, Technical Drafting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers
