Product Control (Warehousing) & Procurement Manager – Supply Chain Management Expert

The successful person shall be responsible for the management of all aspects of inventory (stock) by ensuring stock optimization, as well as taking responsibility for sourcing and procurement processes. You shall manage the Purchasing Manager, Stocks Manager and Controllers and be a supply chain and logistics expert who will specialize in implementing cost-effective purchases of all stock as required by the company.

You shall be responsible for the purchase of foreign and local for Veterinarian (Local and Foreign) and Nutritional Products (Local and Seasonable) and General Purchases (varied suppliers) 

WAREHOUSING

The Product Control and Procurement Manager is required to monitor a range of things including:

  • The stock level of all lines in all warehouses (branches) across the Country
  • The rate of sales (stock depletion) of each product in each branch
  • Knowledge of the lead times in from each supplier
  • Licensing and permit requirements from relevant authorities
  • In consultation with the Unit Heads, stock of raw materials is required in our various manufacturing processes, an in-depth knowledge of formulations (ingredients and the quantities required in each product will be necessary) – the ability to work back from the sales rate of manufactured products, into the ordering of raw materials at the right time to ensure timeous arrival of raw materials is critical.

EFFICIENCY OF STOCK MOVEMENT

  • Movement of stock into and around the company must be achieved as cost and time efficiently as possible
  • The Manager will be required to regularly assess and negotiate the best options on inbound transport (imported product) as well as freight from our main warehouse to the branches.
  • Analysis of stock depletion or build up at all warehouses is essential to limit duplicate stock transfers (returns and redirections)

SHRINKAGE CONTROL 

This pertains to losses resulting from expiry of stock as well as shrinkage through theft and mismanagement of storage. The Product Control & Procurement Manager is responsible for managing this through:

  • System (Pastel) stock analysis
  • Managing a FIFO system
  • Physical stock counts to verify system data
  • The set up and conducting of the biannual full company stock take.

The Manager will be in constant contact with logistics and sales staff from a range of countries. Many of our suppliers are very structured multinational companies requiring clear communication and accurate forecasts for product supply.

Qualification 

1). Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management & Logistics.

2). CIPS Diploma

3). Vast knowledge in foreign purchases a must.

4). Proven experience in dealing with animal health and nutritional products.

5). Experience using supply chain management software and tools

6). In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.

7). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).

8). Management and leadership skills.

9). Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.

10). Highly organized and detail oriented.

11). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
