This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and supervisors SHEQ Engineer – Risk Officer – Legal and Risk Officer – Compliance and Controls

Reporting to the CEO, the Risk and Compliance Manager is actively responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing strategic plans in accordance with the company’s mission and vision statements. It is part of the Executive team and responsible for:

  • Managing all aspects of risk to the organisation, its employees, clients, reputation, assets, and interests of stakeholders. The specific risk areas include, corporate governance, information security, regulatory compliance, insurance, and operational risk ensuring full implementation and management of the integrated management systems.
  • Ensuring that employees conform to the firm’s policies and procedures from an operations and service perspective, including ISO Standards.
  • Providing strategic planning, risks management support, risk profiling, research, and advice to senior management on risk and compliance matters such as SHEQ management, Internal Controls and Compliance, legal risk and ISO integrated management system.
  • Planning, directing, or coordinating activities to ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. This role dictates both employee and business safety.           

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, lead and motivate the Risk and Compliance team which includes SHEQ, Internal Control and Legal to maximise effectiveness on giving the organisation full assurance on the risks.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for Continuous improvement in Processes, controls, safety and environmental management. Supported by a sound legal framework.
  • Design, implement and lead the risk management strategy for the organisation.
  • Support the executive team on embedding a risk aware culture.
  • Design, implement and lead sustainable solutions with a proactive approach to SHEQ, Internal Controls and legal support.
  • Establish and quantify the organisation’s ‘risk appetite’ and ensure risk approach adheres accordingly.
  • Horizon scan to increase awareness of risks affecting the business.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations whilst taking a commercial and practical approach to risk-based challenges and offer appropriate solutions.
  • Continual drive for enhanced efficiency and client service (internal and external) in all Risk and Compliance processes.
  • Ensure senior management remain informed of regulatory, legislative and best practice changes and their obligations under these changes and how they impact the business.
  • Provide regular reports to the CEO and EXCO detailing any current issues or information as required.
  • Give assurance to the company’s Corporate governance involving risk reporting to interested stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the client on-boarding team driving efficiency in all processes to most effectively adhere to our risk appetite.
  • Manage insurance purchase, operation, reporting and notifications.
  • Conduct internal audits, including liaison with executive team on closure of non- compliant areas.
  • Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.
  • Manage the successful delivery of compliance projects ensuring technical excellence and a practical/business driven approach.
  • Support the business in the projects as assigned, through management of change process and risk profile management.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to understand the business requirement for standards certification, management and implementation.
  • Support and champion the company vision and encourage focus on process and innovation with all teams.

You should have relevant qualifications in;

  • Degree in Finance
  • ICA Diploma or equivalent in International Compliance and /or Anti Money Laundering
  • At least 3-5years’ at Senior managerial level dealing with:
  • Risk and Control with good exposure to SHEQ Management and legal framework issues
